Dibalik gaun baru yang stylish dan disain interior yang atraktif, Hyundai i40 ternyata hasil kerja tim Research & Development Centre Hyundai di Russelheim, Jerman.
Bentuk improvement lainnya juga sudah dilakukan oleh pihak Hyundai Jerman seperti membenamkan sistem Blue Drive eco-program sehingga kadar gas buang lebih rendah dari para kompetitor.
Untuk kapasitas mesin yang dimiliki belum ada kepastian berapa yang bakal diusung Hyundai i40 namun informasi beredar pihak Hyundai sudah siap dengan mesin bensin dan diesel. Untuk versi bensin adalah mesin berkapasitas 2.000 cc direct injection dengan sistem idle-stop. Mesin itu mampu melontarkan tenaga 174 hp dengan emisi gas CO2 hanya 156 gr/km. Sedangkan versi diesel akan menggunakan mesin kapasitas 1.700 cc turbodiesel yang mampu melepaskan tenaga sebesar 114 hp sampai 134 hp.
"Hyundai i40 atas penggabungan 4 elemen yang telah menjadi nilai-nilai inti Hyundai yakni kepraktisan, kinerja, efisiensi dan gaya. Semua kita rangkum dan kini berada di dalam Hyundai i40," kata Vice President Hyundia untuk Eropa, Allan Rushforth.
