Hyundai Motors announced their new version known as 2011 Sonata Hybrid Gas Mileage. It will get 37 MPG in the City and 39 MPG on the highway. Hyundai took a different road when designing the Sonata Hybrid. Where most hybrid cars are currently based off the same system or technology, the engineers at Hyundai have gone a different route.

The Sonata Hybrid is powered by a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 169 horsepower. There is a 40 HP electric motor on hand for the extra umph. The hybrid version is also has a polymer battery pack which further reduces the curb weight. It uses a regular 6-speed automatic transmission which is more efficient on the highway thus the Sonata Hybrid gets better gas mileage.
In interior, the cabin design of the 2011 model is all-new, materials quality seems about the same; it’s still competitive but doesn’t notably raise the bar for the class, which is already fairly high. Less compelling is the appearance of the faux wood and silver accents in the middle of the dash of Limited models. And the safety features include: six airbags are standard, as are active front head restraints, an electronic stability system with traction control, and antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist.
Probably the biggest thing the all new Sonata Hybrid has over its rivals may be its battery pack. By starting with Lithium Polymer, the Hyundai Hybrid is capable of getting 37/39 mpg (less than the Ford Fusion Hybrid, but better than the others), up to 62 mph of all electric driving, and the most hp (compared to those others on the list). All this while creating a car that’s slightly bigger than its rivals.
